I asked several co-workers, friends and relatives to slip on a red wig I own ("Ginger") and pose for my camera. This is one of several self-generated assignments as part of my participation in a group of L.A. photographers that met once a month to show and critique our work, based on an assigned monthly theme. "Unusual Pose" was the theme for the month I created this.
I was looking to see what would happen if I could get people I knew to pose - relaxed and simple - in the wig. I wanted to see the person and the eyes. I was encouraged by how readily people agreed to pose in the wig; maybe I asked people whom I suspected would agree to it. I used the same very shallow depth of field and natural light in several workplace offices and at home, working to mimic a uniform studio set up.
