Each early August since 1976 Venice, CA, is the scene of the one-day Festival of the Chariots, which commemorates Lord Krishna's return to his birthplace. This joyful, noisy celebration, where all are welcome, takes parade-goers -- and three hand-pulled 30-foot-high chariots -- along the Venice Boardwalk to a festival of music, free vegetarian food and booths extolling the philosophy of Krishna. These photographs are selections from 2012-2014.
